Welsh Elections Information Platform

The Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru has established the Electoral Management Board for Wales.

The Electoral Management Board is responsible for coordinating the administration of devolved elections and referendums.

The Electoral Management Board is also developing a Welsh Elections Information Platform. The platform will provide information to voters and support them in the participation of elections in Wales and will host specific information for Senedd Cymru elections and Principal Council elections.

The Welsh Elections Information Platform will:

  • provide information to voters about devolved elections including:
  • election addresses/candidate statements
  • official election notices
  • polling station information along with accessibility information

The Welsh Elections Information Platform will provide information for the next scheduled Senedd Cymru elections and Principal Council elections. These will be held in May 2026 and May 2027 respectively. The platform will be launched by March 2026.

The relevant legislation is The Elections and Elected Bodies (Wales) Act 2024 - section 26 and The Welsh Elections Information Platform Regulations 2025.

Objectives

  • provide transparent, accessible, accurate, timely and impartial information to voters to help them make informed choices at elections
  • provide information to voters that is specific to them in their electoral area: either constituency or ward level, and be searchable by post code or electoral area
  • enable the submission, approval and publication of election addresses / candidate statements for any political party or candidate validly standing in the relevant election
  • be secure and safe from interference
  • adhere to the relevant legislation

Information on website

  • Information to support citizens to engage with elections such as information relating to registering to vote, key deadlines for the election, levels of government etc.
  • Specific list of political parties / candidates standing validly nominated in each electoral area including election addresses or candidate statements where the political party / candidate has chosen to submit one.
  • Official election notices published by the Returning Officers including Notice of Election, Statement of Persons Nominated, Notice of Poll, Notice of Situation of Polling Stations and Declaration of Results.
  • Specific allocated polling station information including accessibility information for each polling place.
  • Election results - current election results and historic election results.
  • For specific electoral area related information, the ability for the user to search by postcode, electoral area or interactive map to find relevant information for themselves.
  • Notice of Submission and guidance for political parties / candidates for the submission process and requirements for election addresses / candidate statements to be published
  • Specific area for political parties / candidates to submit their election address / candidate statement and a process to ensure validation of submissions.
  • Legally required notices such as a privacy statement and accessibility statement.
