Caerphilly Community Review recommendations accepted without modification

First Minister, Eluned Morgan MS, has announced that she has agreed the recommendations of Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru following its review of communities in Caerphilly.

The Commission recommended changes to the boundaries of 14 communities in Caerphilly, as well as to the electoral arrangements of those 14 communities.

45 responses were received during the review’s 2 consultation periods.

Responding to the announcement that the recommendations had been accepted, Chief Executive of Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru, Shereen Williams MBE OStJ said:

“The Commission is delighted that the first of its community reviews will now be implemented without modification.
“We’d like to thank the First Minister for taking this decision, and also thank our partners in Caerphilly council, all the community and town councils in the county, and the members of the public who engaged so constructively in the review.
“Reviewing and updating the boundaries and electoral arrangements of communities is crucial in ensuring that people across Caerphilly continue to receive the best representation, and that local changes to populations, for example where new housing estates have been built, are reflected in the boundaries of communities.”

The recommendations of Caerphilly community review will be implemented in full without modification.

The changes will take effect at the next ordinary local government elections.
