Ceredigion Community Review recommendations accepted
Jayne Bryant MS, Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government, has announced that she has agreed the recommendations of Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru following its review of communities in Ceredigion.
The Commission recommended changes to the boundaries and electoral arrangements of 50 communities in Ceredigion.
260 responses were received during the review’s 2 consultation periods.
Responding to the announcement that the recommendations had been accepted, Chief Executive of Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru, Shereen Williams MBE OStJ said:
“The Commission is delighted that the recommendations of its community reviews will now be implemented.
“We’d like to thank the Minister for taking this decision, and also thank our partners in Ceredigion council, all the community and town councils in the county, and the members of the public who engaged so constructively in the review.
“Reviewing and updating the boundaries and electoral arrangements of communities is crucial in ensuring that people across Ceredigion continue to receive the best representation, and that local changes to populations, for example where new housing estates have been built, are reflected in the boundaries of communities.”
The recommendations of Ceredigion community review will be with modification.
- The Commission recommended the single community ward name of Llanddewi Aberarth. The community ward will be given the English-language name of Llanddewi Aberarth and the Welsh-language name of Llanddewi Aber-arth.
- The Commission recommended the single community and community ward name of Llandyfriog. The community and community ward will be given the English-language name of Llandyfriog and the Welsh-language name of Llandyfrïog.
The changes will take effect at the next ordinary local government elections.
