2030 Review of Senedd Constituencies
The 2030 Review of Senedd constituencies will be conducted in accordance with the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru Act (2013).
The Rules of the Act state that the Commission must create 16 Senedd constituencies which are each within 10% of the Electoral Quota.
The Electoral Quota is calculated by dividing the number of electors across Wales on the December 2025 electoral register (2,402,053) with the number of constituencies (16). Each constituency must contain between 90% and 110% of the Electoral Quota.
For this review, the Electoral Quota is 150,128, meaning that each constituency must include between 135,225 and 165,275 electors.
Key dates
The Commission will publish its Initial Proposals in early 2027, which will trigger an 8-week consultation period.
The Commission must submit its Final Determinations to Welsh Ministers before 1 December 2028.

Consultations
Following the publication of the Initial Proposals there will be consultation periods lasting 8 weeks.
The Commission invites comments on the boundaries, the naming, and the designating of constituencies during its consultation periods. The Commission is unable to take into account any representations made outside of the consultation periods.
The Commission is also unable to affect the number of Members of the Senedd to be elected nor the electoral system used to elect them and representations on these matters cannot be taken into account.
Representations should be made in writing, on the Commission's online consultation portal, by email, or in the post. Further details on the consultations will be published as part of the Initial Proposals report.
Following the publication of the Final Determinations, the new constituencies will take effect at the 2030 Senedd election.
