The County Borough of Conwy (Communities) Order 2026
These reviews are important as they reflect the changing nature of each community, their populations and planned development, to ensure that each community has fair and equal democratic representation within the local government structure.
Under the 2013 Act, a council can either undertake a community review itself, or it can agree for the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru (the Commission) to undertake the review on its behalf. Under the former arrangement, the council is required to submit its report and recommendations to the Commission for determination.
The council completed a review of its communities and submitted its final recommendations report to the Commission in March 2026. Having considered the report and recommendations together with the any representations received, the Commission wrote to the Chief Executive of Conwy Council on 27 May 2026 to advise them of the Commission's decision to agree the recommendations contained within the report without modification.
The Order made by the Commission will bring the changes into force at the next local government elections.
